About Goat Hill Park

Originally built in 1952 as Center City Golf Course, Goat Hill Park is one of the first golf courses in San Diego County. The course was redesigned in the early 1990s by Ludwig Keehn into an 18-hole short course, and locals began calling it Goat Hill.

After years of mismanagement and threats of redevelopment, the Oceanside community united at a historic 2014 Town Hall meeting to save the course, making national headlines. Local resident and golf industry veteran John Ashworth, founder of Ashworth Golf and co-founder of Linksoul, along with Geoff Cunningham and David Emerick, took over management and invested over $3.6 million in renovations.

Today, Goat Hill Park is a beloved community hub sitting on 75 acres with ocean views and ocean breezes less than a mile from the Pacific. The course rewards creativity and imagination over raw power, with double greens, forced carries over chasms, and sightlines stretching to Palomar Mountain on clear days. It is, quite simply, the people's park of Oceanside.

Playing Goat Hill Park with No Laying Up

Goat Hill is what golf should be. No pretense, no dress code policing, just pure golf. The course is sneaky hard too. Those par 3s over the ravines are no joke.

Interesting layout but some holes are just too gimmicky for me. The par 3 over the ravine with a 90 yard forced carry is cool once but frustrating when you lose three balls. Decent value for the area.

Course is fun but the pace of play on Saturday morning was brutal. Over 4 hours for a short course is too long. Also wish the range had more shade. Course itself is solid for the price though.

Love the atmosphere and the course layout. Par 65 means it plays fast and you can get 18 in under 3 hours walking. Great for after work.
